“Fa La La” Christmas Album
Saturday, November 11th
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!” We’ll get ready for this year’s festivities by creating a beautiful album where we can keep our special photos, stories, and mementos of the season. Using a new 6×8″ album from Echo Park, we’ll fill it with lovely papers and embellishments from the Crate Paper FaLaLa collection, and a mix of products from Carta Bella, Simple Stories, Pebbles, and more. We’ll create interactive pages to hold lots of photos in the fifteen page protectors of various sizes. You’ll change the way you look at a page protector as we alter them to hold more photos. Be inspired to document your Christmas season!
Every kit comes with directions with color photos to follow if you cannot attend class in person.
Student supply list: Each person needs their own 12″ paper trimmer and adhesive (I most frequently use 1/4″ and 1/2″wide Scor Pal tape. The 1/4″ tape will be very useful in this project.) Please also bring these helpful tools… scissors, scallop scissors, pencil, ruler, stapler, scoring tool, Crop a Dile punch, 1/4″ hole punch (I use the 1/4″ We R MemoryKeepers Power Punch), corner rounder punch, liquid glue, and foam tape adhesive. If you like a more distressed look, bring a sanding tool, non-stick craft sheet, ink to distress with (I use a pretty dry Ranger Distress Ink pad in the Vintage Photo color), ink blending tool.
“Memoranda” Journal Album
Saturday, November 11th
Featuring the beautifully collaged Tim Holtz Idea-ology Memoranda paper collection, we will each create a unique journal and scrapbook to hold our family photos and stories or to use as a travel journal or to use for anything you can dream up! This workshop is filled with creative techniques for making your book interactive and filled with secret pocket and booklets for all your stories and photos. We will be using the Cinch machine to add wire-binding to our custom journals; we will learn to color and customize die cuts with Distress Markers; we will be learning tricks for expanding the pages of our books to make them more useful; and lots more! Each book will be unique as you choose from a wide variety of paper dolls and botanicals for the cover of your book.* This is a great opportunity to make the cover more personal with a feminine or more masculine or childlike cover. The twelve sheets of double-sided paper that come in the class kit also offer limitless choices to make the book your own. From the door knob on the front cover to the rub ons and snippets of ephemera and trinkets that you’ll find in your kit, you’ll have fun playing and creating and learning with me!Class kits come with instruction with color photos. If you are getting a kit from the store, your kit will contain an assortment of paper dolls and botanicals. The book can be assembled with binding rings that you might have instead of the Cinch machine.
*If you would like to make your book cover just like the sample book, you can purchase the full packages of Idea-ology Paper Dolls (TH93555) and Botanicals (TH93554) separately.
