Sewing Class with Ma Ma Osa/Alisha Cooke - Garment Sewing - Cotton Tie Front Top - Tuesday, May 20th, 6-8:30pm
This is a beginner to intermediate level sewing class, but advanced sewist would enjoy it as well! The pattern is super fun and a great addition to your spring/summer outfit options. In addition to learning general garment tips, you will be learning how to add sleeves and make the tie front closure option as a fun alternative to buttons or zippers. Whim So Doodle carries the pink flower checkered fabric shown in this sample as well as so many other amazing cotton or linen options for this top. There is a 10% fabric discount for class participants. The tie front top can be worn with a tank top or bandeau underneath or used as a cute swimsuit cover up.
What to bring:
Your pre laundered fabric to avoid shrinkage **info below
Coordinating Thread for your project
Optional: Your sewing machine if desired (or use one at the shop)
A sewing kit if you have one - scissors, seam ripper, pins, a 1/2 inch bias tape maker (or use mine)
**Ideally, you will go to Whim So Doodle and pick up your fabric ahead of time. Take it home and wash it on a cool gentle cycle and tumble dry low. Iron at home or bring it to the class to iron. Yardage to purchase - 0/2-12/14 33-40 inch bust needs 1.5 yard, 16/18-28/30 42-56 inch bust needs 2 yards. IF you are unable to do this I suggest sewing a size up just in case of shrinkage during your first wash. *IF choosing 56" 100% linen, you will need 1yd or 1.5 yards respective to the size chosen above.
