You'll love this handy zip-up Tool Case to store and carry a variety of tools, from rotary cutters and scissors to markers, turning tools, small rulers, and more. A variety of easy-to-access pockets in vinyl, mesh, and quilted fabric can be customized to fit the tools you use and love.
Designed in collaboration with popular fabric designer, Tula Pink, the Tool Case will hold Tula's hardware collection or can be customized to fit rotary cutters, rulers, and tools from most manufacturers.
Finished: 9½"H x 12½"W x 1½"D when closed and opens to 12½"H x 20½"W
Materials needed: (from the back of the pattern)
Supplies Needed for Day of Class:
□ Sewing machine with power cord and foot pedal (manual for any assistance with the
machine)
□ Knee Lifter (optional)
□ Recommended Feet: 1⁄4” foot, zipper foot, edge (topstitch) foot, and walking foot; Teflon
Foot (optional – working with vinyl)
□ Recommended Needles: size#90/14 Microtex needle
□ Coordinating Thread
□ Rotary Cutter and Personal Cutting Mat
□ Rulers (12 1⁄2” and a variety of other sizes are helpful)
□ Pins
□ Scissors and Thread snips
□ Wonder clips (small and large)
□ Washout Marking pencils or pens; Frixion Pens; chalk; Air Erase Pen to mark with
□ Stiletto
□ Seam Roller
□ By Annie’s Basting Tape
□ Washable Glue
□ Large Safety Pin
□ Fray block or Fray Check (optional - seals ends of webbing)
□ Irons and Large Cutting Mats (provided by store)

Review the pattern for any additional supplies and tools.
This is a two-day class with a short break for lunch each day. Feel free to bring something to eat
and drink while you work on your project.
HOMEWORK.... To ensure you reach the intended goals set, complete the following BEFORE arriving on the first day of the class. Allow adequate time to prepare these steps, do not try to accomplish this the night before day one of the class.
Complete the following in advance:□ Read pages 1 – 3 to familiarize yourself with the general information. Check for any
corrections at www.ByAnnie.com/corrections/ before you begin.
□ Read all my instructions before you begin.
□ Print page 11—the labels. VERY IMPROTANT TO ATTACH LABELS TO YOUR PIECES.
□ On page 2, you will find the information regarding cutting and quilting.
□ Use the labels to assist in cutting out Quilted Set A and B.
Page 2 I. CUT AND QUILT:
□ Prepare: Main Fabric, Lining Fabric and Soft and Stable for quilting -- Set A and Set B.
▫ Follow the cutting instructions for cutting each of the above-mentioned
fabrics/interfacing.
▫ Pages 2: B. QUILT - Follow the steps in this section; quilting the layers for each Set A
& B. Use a temporary adhesive spray to baste & hold the layers together.
▫ Page 2: C. Cut Quilted Fabric and Seal Edges - Follow the steps in this section. On
the opposite side of the page, you will find the cutting layouts for the quilted
fabrics. Clip/pin a label to each piece.
Page 2 I. CUT:
□ Prepare: Coordinating Fabric
▫ Page 2 – From the coordinating fabric cut and label each piece.
□ Webbing versus Prepared Fabric Straps and Handles NOTE: If you are following the
method of preparing the fabric covered handle, you will continue to cut all the
coordinating fabrics as listed. If you are using webbing to replace the fabric covered
handles as I did in the sample, you will need to purchase 3⁄4 of a yard. (This is the same
amount as the Polypro strapping.) Cutting lengths for webbing to follow below.
□ CUT 1” Webbing: Handle Stabilizer = 12.5” and Handle = 13.5”; Seal the ends of the
webbing with fray block or some other method to stop the webbing from fraying.
Page 2 I. CUT:
□ Fusible Interfacing (SF101, Mesh Fabric, Vinyl, & Fold-Over Elastic: Follow pattern
instructions. Do not remove the paper from the back of the vinyl.
Pages 2-4 II. Prepare Components
▫ A. Prepare Bias Binding - on page 2 follow the instructions to prepare the bias
binding.
▫ B. Prepare Zippers
▫ C. Prepare Center Facing
▫ D. Prepare Handles and Handle Stabilizer ONLY if you are NOT using webbing. If
you are using webbing cut to the appropriate length as given above.
▫ E. 1.a. ONLY FUSE the Pocket A border interfacing to Pocket A Border as written.
▫ Make Zipper Pulls – on page 10: follow the instructions at N steps 1 & 2 only to
make 3 – 1” x 12” zipper pulls.
We will begin with preparing the various pockets together in class.
□ Additional Components to be completed between classes—information regarding the
components will be addressed at the end of the first class
▫ Prepare the Pressing Mat/Tool Protector (page 5-I)
▫ Prepare the Zipper Tab (page 9-K)
▫ Prepare the Zipper Pulls (page 10-N)
Please bring all the labeled pieces, along with the prepared components and any extra fabric and stabilizers, as well as your pattern to class.
